Elite tech trees
Every country has its own three-tier elite tech tree with five elite units marked ★ — 45 in all across nine countries.
How to unlock
- Earn experience points by playing and unlock elite units tier by tier.
- Or use gold: a single unit, a whole tier or a country's full tree.
- Rent any elite unit for 24 hours or for 3 matches to try it first.
- Gold can also top up missing XP to speed up an unlock.
Fair play
- Higher in-match ore cost and build time, scaled to their power.
- Live limits: up to 3 of each Tier 1 unit, 2 of each Tier 2 unit and a single Tier 3 signature unit.
- Mid-game technology: elite units need research buildings, so the early game is the same for everyone.
- Rank-based matchmaking.
- Classic Ranked: a separate ranked queue without elites.
- Bots never use elite units.
Elite units use stand-in models and art until their own designs are finished.
